As fall advances towards winter the search for color becomes ever more challenging. The image above is of a back-lit sycamore leaf against a pitch black creek bank. The image is all contrast. Had this lone leaf been one of one hundred leaves the image would hold much less appeal to me. The sycamore leaves in Kansas don’t offer up much color in the fall, mostly brown and yellow. But on this morning a single leaf back-lit against a black background seemed electric. The last leaf standing. Hanging. Clinging. Enduring.
